About St. Luke's - The Pastors

The Presbyterian Church views its pastors as leaders of the congregation, ministers to each of the members, as well as teachers who encourage and equip all members for ministry.

At St. Luke's, pastoral leadership is being shared by our two co-pastors, the Rev. Laura Krauss and the Rev. Dr. Reinhard Krauss. Our co-pastors jointly serve in a single full-time position, and equally divide the responsibilities such as preaching, pastoral care, teaching, and administration. Both are committed to a cooperative leadership style through which the individual gifts of members are recognized, valued, and nurtured.

Laura grew up in Cameroun, Africa, as a missionary child. After studying art history and archaeology here in the United States and in Israel, she went to seminary in St. Andrews, Scotland, where she earned a Master's Degree in Theology. It was during this time that she and Reinhard got acquainted and were married. Before coming to St. Luke's, Laura has served in the church as co-pastor, solo pastor, regional social action advocate, and manager of a homeless shelter.

Reinhard is a native of Germany, where he began his theological studies before earning a doctorate in theology at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. Prior to his co-pastorate at St. Luke's, he served several churches in Ohio and Michigan. Apart from his pastoral responsibilities at St. Luke's, Reinhard also is a translator of theological texts.

Besides sharing their pastoral responsibilities, Reinhard and Laura also share the joy of being parents to two young children, Benjamin and Lydia.
